Maggey walks through the door to Tres Bien and abruptly stops.

W-wow! There are so many customers here today! Did Mr. Armstrong finally learn to cook?

She takes a closer look at the people and her surroundings.

Hey...wait, this isn't the cafe! Where am I? And whey are there so many Mr. Wrights and Detective Gumshoes!? Just my luck....

Good evening, Ms Byrde... or is it Mrs Gumshoe? Forgive me, but I'm not sure which time and place you're from.
unluckybyrde on February 3rd, 2008 06:52 pm (UTC)
::Maggey starts blushing bright red:: J-just Byrde! I-I;m not married to Detective Gumshoe!
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Smileprofesseurdeloi on February 3rd, 2008 07:02 pm (UTC)
*gives her a searching look, followed by a smile*

I see. Then please forgive me for being somewhat... previous. If that... event... should ever happen, I thoroughly recommend Paris as a honeymoon destination. I believe I am correct in saying that it will agree with both of you.

*slightly wicked smile*
unluckybyrde on February 3rd, 2008 07:06 pm (UTC)
He seems to be enjoying this XD
U-um...alright...::stares at him suspiciously::

So...are you...one of the Mr. Edgeworths?
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Greyprofesseurdeloi on February 3rd, 2008 07:11 pm (UTC)
OH YES HE IS XD
Indeed I am. I should apologise for presuming you would remember me, Ms Byrde, and particularly since my mode of dress has changed somewhat since we last met.

I seem to be somewhat further ahead in time than the rest of the Edgeworths thus far. Currently, I reside in Paris and work as a professor of law.

unluckybyrde on February 3rd, 2008 07:14 pm (UTC)
Yeah, you aren't wearing that...frilly thing. A c-cravat?

Further in time...you're the same age as Mr. Wright, right? How old are you right now, sir?

There are professors of law?
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Mellowprofesseurdeloi on February 3rd, 2008 07:20 pm (UTC)
I have not found that cravats are particularly practical in a lecture hall. They are too prone to cause amusement among the students when they really should be paying attention. *laughs and shakes his head, apparently at himself*

I'm the same age that the Mr Wright in my world would be now, yes. Which is thirty-five.

And indeed there are professors of law. Someone has to educate tomorrow's attorneys about the true nature of justice.
unluckybyrde on February 3rd, 2008 07:48 pm (UTC)
I can see how they'd be distracting, sir!
unluckybyrde on February 3rd, 2008 07:48 pm (UTC)
Thirty-five? Then...if I'm twenty-two, and my Mr. Wright's twenty..six, then that makes me...thirty-one in your world. Wow...

That's funny. I didn't think there would be people who actually taught law...I guess I thought lawyers kinda...were. Just...made that way.
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Dinnerprofesseurdeloi on February 3rd, 2008 08:06 pm (UTC)
I hope that it isn't too forward of me to observe that based on what I have seen in my world, you have no cause to concern yourself with the aging process. Last time I had the pleasure of you company you were looking quite... radiant.

I think we are made a... certain way, to a degree *smiles*. But we have to be taught to use those instincts for the best... a lesson I learned the hard way myself, unfortunately.
unluckybyrde on February 3rd, 2008 08:14 pm (UTC)
You know, if Gumshoe popped in right now, Edgeworth would be dead. XD
Why, thank you, Mr. Edgeworth! ::grins:: You're not looking too bad yourself!

The hard way? Did you fail a class or something?

Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Glasses Sadprofesseurdeloi on February 3rd, 2008 08:19 pm (UTC)
It's okay, he's gay. He's just being gallant... and intimating something about her future.
I think Paris agrees with me. It's certainly more relaxing than Los Angeles.

[And much further away from the bad memories]

I take it that you aren't aware of my history? Ah then, I won't depress you by recounting it. Suffice to say that prior to meeting you, I feel under a bad influence. I am not proud of that particular phase of my life as an attorney.
unluckybyrde on February 3rd, 2008 08:25 pm (UTC)
I figured! :D
According to you, it agrees with everyone!

Oh, okay...::glances at Edgeworth curiously::

How is Mr. Wright in the future? Is he still a defense attorney?
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loiprofesseurdeloi on February 3rd, 2008 08:53 pm (UTC)
MAGGEY AND GUMSHOE VISITED WITH HIM ON THEIR HONEYMOON! HE SHIPS IT!
*Laughs*

I am quite fond of my adopted home, it's true.

*Serious again, and looks down and away*

The last time I heard from Mr Wright he was no longer an attorney. I understand from news reports that is still the case, although he is still doing legal work, of sorts, in Los Angeles.

unluckybyrde on February 3rd, 2008 08:58 pm (UTC)
Aww. Of course he does! EVERYONE ships it! XD
Oh...

She can tell that this seems to be a sensitive subject, but is curious and asks anyway.

Do you know why he isn't an attorney anymore, sir? Have you seen him lately?
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Sidelongprofesseurdeloi on February 3rd, 2008 09:14 pm (UTC)
IT'S SO SWEET!
*He's clearly uncomfortable*

He was... disbarred. Although from what I could understand it was... not entirely his fault.

I haven't seen him for almost eight years now.
unluckybyrde on February 3rd, 2008 09:17 pm (UTC)
Re: IT'S SO SWEET!
Ah...I see...

Can I ask why? I'm sure he'd want to see you...
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Glasses Sadprofesseurdeloi on February 3rd, 2008 09:26 pm (UTC)
Re: IT'S SO SWEET!
*He smiles, but it's bitter, and it isn't reflected in his eyes*

No, Ms. Byrde, I can assure you that he does not.

*blatantly changing the subject*

I deduce from your uniform that you still work in Tres Bien, in your world? There is a version of your Mr Armstrong here. God help us all,

unluckybyrde on February 4th, 2008 02:04 am (UTC)
Re: IT'S SO SWEET!
Yes, I work in Tres Bien, sir. Why wouldn't I?

Oh, Mr. Armstrong's here? How...nice. She tries to smile but it looks slightly more like a grimace.

((Maggey hasn't been framed yet! Please keep that in mind. I really should have said that in my initial post...Feel free to allude to the framing, though. XD Sorry!))
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Tapprofesseurdeloi on February 4th, 2008 02:11 am (UTC)
Re: IT'S SO SWEET!
No reason. But I always thought you were wasted on that place, if you want my honest opinion. I don't think I'm saying too much if I note that the Maggey in my world runs a successful business of her own. *smiles*

(OOC: He wasn't going to mention it. He's being careful not to accidentally freak people out unless there's a humour aspect to it, or unless they're another version of him in which case they're fair game LOL)
unluckybyrde on February 4th, 2008 02:14 am (UTC)
Re: IT'S SO SWEET!
Ooh, I do? What kind of business? Tell me, tell me!

((Ah, ok. Just making sure! :D))
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Smileprofesseurdeloi on February 4th, 2008 02:27 am (UTC)
Re: IT'S SO SWEET!
*He chuckles at her sudden interest*

Private investigation, believe it or not. Mostly doing work for people like Mr Wright. who don't have the police to draw on.
unluckybyrde on February 4th, 2008 02:33 am (UTC)
Re: IT'S SO SWEET!
I...I'm a PI!? Woohoo! That's always been my dream! Jumps up and down, then hugs Edgeworth* Thank you!
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Amusedprofesseurdeloi on February 4th, 2008 02:40 am (UTC)
DAWWWW!
*Wasn't expecting that reaction and is entirely too surprised to back away in time*

Ah! Er... you're welcome, Ms. Byrde.

You should always pursue your dreams, despite what anyone else tells you.
unluckybyrde on February 4th, 2008 02:43 am (UTC)
Hee, that was fun. XD Sorry Edgey!
*stops hugging and looks at Edgeworth, grinning VERY widely* I'll definitely remember that, sir! Thank you so much for telling me!
Of course! He's just so much fun to scare! <3 - unluckybyrde on February 4th, 2008 03:28 am (UTC) (Expand)
