The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth...
*The room is only two colors. White with black lines on the ceiling, black with white lines on the floor. All of the lines run parallel, none of them cross. There are chairs made of ebony, and glass tables with quartz bases. Some Greek marble statues are scattered randomly, all completely nude. On some of the tables lie small skeleton keys, with the shape of a Magatama at the end. There is also a line of brass tacks on the wall.

Phoenix looks around for a moment, then picks up one of the keys and examines it. It's quite plain in every respect but the handle. The whole place is quite odd...*

((OOC: Okay, pals! I had this bit of inspiration after playing around in the superpower room. As long as your charries stick around here, THEY CANNOT LIE. This room doesn't force them to spill their guts, but everything they say must be the plain and honest truth! Have fun~))

[She looks at the rooms interior decoration and frowns. This is all very bland. Where are the suits of armor? Where are the sprawling tapestries? The cobwebs in the corners of the castle walls?]

...Awwww.

[Kicks invisible dust and pouts at the boring nature of the room.]
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Smilingprofesseurdeloi on March 25th, 2008 11:36 am (UTC)
*He's fairly wary about wandering into rooms these days, after one or two less than pleasant experiences. But no-one in this one appears to be suffering ill-effects, despite most being engaged in what he would normally regard as unusually animated conversations. But safe as it looks, he's uncomfortable when he sees Pearl in there on her own, so he steps in to make sure that she's safe.*

Miss Fey? Is everything all right?

((OOC: They never did finish the talk in the library, but she's been added to his list of waifs and strays now so... I thought this might be... potentially somewhat LULZ. *SNORT* And apologies for HTML PHAIL))

[She looks up at the sound of a familiar voice and literally squeaks in delight to see the Professor there; she hasn't seen him in ages and she likes him an awful lot as he played games with her.]

Mr. Edgeworth~

[She scampers over to him and is about to hug him when she remembers that it's probably a bad idea; instead, she stands there bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet.]

I've been really good! I had a picnic and got turned into a frog and there's someone like you who I think is a little crazy but he says he's a king or something and I'm gonna be at school soon and I danced with Diego in the ballroom and I was a boy for a little while too I think but that wasn't very fun.

[Deeeeeeeeeep breath. For a little thing, she's got good lung power, it seems.]

Where've you been?
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Amusedprofesseurdeloi on March 25th, 2008 05:32 pm (UTC)
*He absorbs the rapid fire information as best he can without believing a word of it - except perhaps the bit about there being a power-crazed version of him somewhere because really, that wouldn't surprise him in the least.*

A frog, hm? Were you hoping for a Prince to come and find you?

*He has a dim memory from his childhood that this what happens to frogs in fairy tales. A lot.*

I'm afraid I haven't been leading nearly as interesting a life as you, Ms Fey.

THE SAD PART IS IT'S ALL TRUE
[She looks avoidant for a moment.]

W-well, um. I... didn't mean to be a frog. We had bad cake at the picnic and the you who thinks leaves are dirty got turned into a frog with me, and a Mr. Nick in a blue hat kissed him, and he kissed me, and it was really really gross because when he got turned back into a person [scandalized whispering] I saw his hiney.

[She giggles and turns a bright red.]

I bet that's not true at all! You're old. You have to have done a lot of stuff!

[She doesn't mean to insult him, honest.]
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Smilingprofesseurdeloi on March 26th, 2008 12:12 pm (UTC)
Wait Till he Realises That
*He's slightly appalled by that story, as a matter of fact, although he succeeds in not showing it. He doesn't really know which portion to be most shocked about - an alternate of his exposing himself to a child is highest on his list currently, although an alternate of Wright making free with his affections and potential drugs in the patisserie are also horrifying to contemplate. She seems happy enough, so he assumes no real harm has been done, but still...*

That's... well, I'm sure that's wholly illegal, Ms Fey. I hope that you have reported this business to detective Gumshoe, and that you will avoid these versions of myself and Wright in the future. And any cake they offer you.

*He manages to conceal a grin at her giggling*

I'm really not that old, Ms Fey, even though I may seem that way to you. I suppose that I have done a lot of "stuff", as you call it. Somehow though I fear it may not be as exciting as you might like to think.

I imagine there will be broken brains littered all over the floor when he does
[It's probably quite horrible to think that whatever has happened to her here is likely only half as bad as some of the things that happen in her home world; at least no fifty-foot-tall Meekinses have attempted to eat anyone and there does seem to be a distinct lack of Shoe in Boots.]

[She considers his words carefully; he is a smart Mr. Edgeworth and she trusts him well enough.]

Uuuuumm. I haven't yet, but I can. And I promise never to eat cake from strangers ever again, honest.

[This seems like a satisfactory response; she nods and contemplates what he's said next.]

I bet a lot of it's more fun than you think~

[Grins at him. Time to prove a point.]

What's the most eck-sy-ting thing you've ever done?
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Amusedprofesseurdeloi on March 26th, 2008 03:55 pm (UTC)
Oh God Yes
*She looks earnest when she promises, and he's satisfied with that, although the news of her adventures still disquiets him somewhat, and he makes a note to look out for these potentially dangerous deviants*

Hm. Well - that depends on what you mean by exciting, Pearl.

*He furrows his brow, trying to think of something that would sound even remotely entertaining to a child*

What would you class as exciting?
castbeforeswine on March 26th, 2008 04:17 pm (UTC)
I'll get the mop and bucket ready for that then
[She puts her hand to her mouth and chews on her thumbnail (a terrible habit, but a comforting one).]

W-well, anything. Catching witches, or dragon rides, or finding buried treasure, or--ooh, or maybe getting a brand new ball? Oh, and the time with the Big Bad Wolf was scary but I liked it~

[Thinks hard, trying to figure out what a Mr. Edgeworth would find enjoyable.]

Ooo! Maybe you could have, um. Climbed a beanstalk, and... and got a new teapot! And it talks? You like tea, right?
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Thinkingprofesseurdeloi on March 26th, 2008 04:55 pm (UTC)
Ye, Do XD
*He listens to her litany of exciting fantasies with some amusement, reflecting that she really must read some very engaging books and that that, at least, was A Good Thing.*

Hm. No beanstalks, no talking teapots - but yes, I do like tea. I'm not sure that's particularly exciting however - it's more soothing than otherwise. *He thinks again* Well, I suppose that being a defense attorney for a day was exciting. *Nods*

castbeforeswine on March 26th, 2008 05:02 pm (UTC)
Ready and waiting, cap'n
[Thoughtfully.]

Tea can be exciting if pirates steal it. Are there tea-pirates where you come from?

[She blinks and mulls this over as best she can based on what little information she's gathered here and there over the dressing room.]

But I thought you were a teacher and a... a... pro-scooter? What's a D-Fence Turny? Why did you have to be one? Did you want to be? Can I be one too?

[My questions, let me ask you them.]
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Smilingprofesseurdeloi on March 26th, 2008 05:29 pm (UTC)
Aye Aye
The only person who steals my tea is the Head of School, and sadly she is considerably less exciting than a pirate...

*He stops speaking and blinks. That really was not something he intended to say aloud. He supposes that Pearl's talkativeness must just be rubbing off on him.*

I am a teacher now, Pearl. I used to be a prosecutor. A defence attorny is like a prosecutor, but their job is to argue the opposite point of view. My father was a defence attorney.

I had to be one because... *He thinks for a second* a friend of mine had an accident, and he asked me to stand in for him in court, just for one day. I didn't want to do it, but I did, because he asked me to.

*He smiles, then* Of course you could Pearl, if you wanted to be one.
castbeforeswine on March 26th, 2008 05:51 pm (UTC)
Re: Aye Aye
[She latches onto the pirate thing like a... barnacle, appropriately enough.]

She steals your tea? You should have Sir Gumshoe arrest her. You're not supposed to take things unless you have a pirate license. Then you can do what you like, because a pirate is free. That's what Mr. Edgeworth says at home.

[Stern nod. Yes. That's what ought to be done. There are rules even in fairytale land, after all.]

[She considers growing up to be a D-Fence Turny for a moment, and decides that if they have accidents like that, then she should probably be something else.]

What was the trial about? Did you find a bad witch?
Miles Edgeworth, Professeur de Loi: Amusedprofesseurdeloi on March 26th, 2008 06:41 pm (UTC)
Re: Aye Aye
*He laughs at that*

While I suspect that Sir Gumshoe would be very happy to do that, he is rather unfortunately not on hand to enforce the law in that regard. That's possibly a good thing for my career.

Your Mr Edgeworth says some very interesting things, Pearl. Does he have a legal position on highwaymen?

*Her turn of phrase strikes him as particularly appropriate and he smirks, slightly*

In a manner of speaking yes we did, Pearl. She hurt someone else and the wrong person had been accused of the crime. *He tilts his head a little, but decides to avoid mentioning that in his world, she had been involved*

castbeforeswine on March 26th, 2008 06:57 pm (UTC)
Re: Aye Aye
[She looks sad to hear this.]

He's not? Did you finally take away his horse?

[Tries to recall the lecture on thieves and bandits one day and frowns.]

U-um. Well, he... something about a man named after boots walking around stealing bananas. I don't remember.

[Sheepish at her failure at having paid attention, she tries to change the subject to that of the Bad Witch.]

Who got accused? Did they get in trouble?
